Who Are We?
With A Side of Fun [WASOF] is a local small business offering therapeutic services that focus on improving
your quality of life. We offer therapeutic activities including counselling, psychoeducational workshops and events that blend traditional talk-therapy with therapeutic recreation and leisure techniques, polyvagal theory and the use of creative arts with the goal of addressing all domains of wellness: social, physical, spiritual, cognitive and intellectual, emotional, financial, environmental, and occupational.

How Can We Help?
✨ Providing safe spaces for individuals to be themselves, share their stories, have their voices and truths heard and recognized (even if it's not exactly spoken), and have the confidence to be vulnerable and try new things through play;
✨ Assess independent function and skill level, identify clients' strengths, recreational interests and areas for possible education, and overall well-being across the Domains of Wellness;
✨ Plan individualized therapeutic outcomes derived from collaborative goal-setting utilizing a mixture of psychotherapy modalities with a strong focus on Behavioural Activation (the world of Recreation Therapy lives here) and Polyvagal Theory (the neuroscience of how your nervous system responds to stress);
✨ Implement individualized plans through programs and services agreed upon by the client and therapist (this may include other support individuals like friends, family, and other professionals if the client wishes); and,
✨ Evaluate individual progress, including identifying modifications or adaptations that may be needed to ensure client success in reaching agreed upon goals, as well as the overall effectiveness of current services and programs offered.
✨ We happily offer a range in group sizes and styles to cater to each unique resident of Lambton County and across Canada.

Hi! I’m Addy.
I would describe myself as a drama nerd, Indigiqueer, adventure-seeker, and a scholar who loves all things related to learning, but especially the field of Behaviour Sciences and Recreation and Leisure Studies.
I started With A Side of Fun in my last year of my Recreation Therapy program in 2020, after becoming a new mom and struggling to find my identity outside my family and wanting to do more for the community I grew up in. With A Side of Fun is my dream coming to flourish for communities to recognize the health benefits of recreation, the creative arts, and a platform for me to advocate for the need for inclusivity and accessibility for all, regardless of their income, physical ability, age, gender, "diagnosis" or other individual factors.
